# Workflows

> Chain steps together into automations that run on a schedule, on demand or when something happens.

A workflow is a set of steps your agent runs for you: gather, decide, write, send. Build one by asking, or drag the steps together yourself in the web app.

## Build a workflow

* "Every Friday, list the week's new leads and text me a summary"
* "When someone books an appointment, add them to my clients table and make a task to prepare"
* "When a Shopify order is refunded, open a ticket"

In the web app, open **Workflows** and drag steps from the palette. Every action your agent can take is available as a step.

## When workflows run

* **On a schedule**: every day, every week, on the first of the month.
* **On demand**: "Run my weekly report workflow", or press **Run** in the web app.
* **When something happens**: a new lead from one of your pages, a booking made, moved or cancelled, or an order from your store created, updated or refunded.

Each run is kept, so you can see what it did and what it made.

## Approvals

When you save a workflow in the web app yourself, that counts as your approval. When your agent builds or changes one, it asks you before any step that pays, deletes or writes to someone new. See [Approvals](https://docs.lvlz.ai/agent/approvals-and-undo.md).
